On November 7th, the exchange meeting of no vomiting ward development organized by Xiangtan Central Hospital and the launching ceremony of the no vomiting ward of Hospital’s Oncology Department I were held in Huayin International Hotel. Liu Xiang, Director of the Pharmacy Department, and Tang Tiegang, Director of the Oncology Department I, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.
It is understood that chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) is the most common adverse reaction in cancer patients during chemotherapy, which also leads to cancer patients’ fear of chemotherapy.
Three oncology experts from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Huashan Hospital, and Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center respectively gave live teaching online to discuss and communicate three topics, namely "Standardized Diagnosis and Treatment of Lung Cancer and CINV Management", "CINV Management Challenges in the Era of Immunochemotherapy" and "CINV Standardized Ward Management Practice and Sharing".
Wang Roushu, the attending physician of the Oncology Department II, focused on calling for a re-examination of CINV. Gong Ting, Deputy Director of the Pharmacy Department, explained the management of CINV from the perspective of pharmacy.
Patients in the no vomiting ward will be screened strictly in accordance with the CINV high-risk patient evaluation process. The selected high-risk patients will undergo standardized antiemetic treatment and individualized health education. During hospitalization, seamless assessment, intervention, evaluation, and tracking of the side effects of chemotherapy will be effective before discharge, so as to achieve the goal of chemotherapy without vomiting for cancer patients.
